Join us for a day of important topics presented by distinguished UCLA faculty, Eugene Caruso and Principal Employee Experience Strategist, Jen Stroud of ServiceNow.
Professor Caruso will discuss Ethical Leadership and the Workplace
People who work together often assume that others share their values and agree on what is important, fair, and ethical. However, we know from experience that two people looking at the same situation may come to vastly different conclusions about what is “right.” Failing to appreciate the perspective of others can lead people to be blindsided when what looks like an easy choice provokes unexpected and passionate opposition. Professor Caruso will draw on his work that explores the reasons why people find it so hard to appreciate that there can be more than one right answer when viewpoints are in conflict. He will share research and practical tools that enable people to make good decisions, not just in the sense of being successful and maximizing value, but also in the sense of being respectful, honorable, and ethical.
Ms. Stroud, will conduct a “Design Thinking” workshop: Leveraging Human Centered Design Thinking to Improve Employee Service Delivery and HR Decision Making
In developing and delivering HR programs, we must deliver a human centered approach to service delivery as our programs mature in the digital age. HR needs to provide digital design approaches so programs are meaningful, efficient, and cost effective. As part of the design process, we will explore what human centered design thinking is and how many organizations miss the mark when it comes to employee engagement. We will discuss how misalignment on projects can impact organizations and review some common ways you can put the “human” back in your service delivery.
The day will involve a mix of faculty lecture, group conversation, and an interactive workshop – lunch is provided.
