SUMMARY:Associate Round Table: "Coaching for Performance"
DESCRIPTION:Featured Speaker \n \nJohn Ullmen\nLecturer of Management and Organizations\nUCLA Anderson School of Management \n\nSummary:  \nProfessor Ullmen will focus his session on how to improve personal coaching and communication skills to be an effective leader. \nThe purpose of coaching is help others learn\, grow and be more effective in professional life. It’s a challenging skillset because it requires adapting to the development priorities\, learning styles\, motivational profiles\, strengths and improvement areas of others\, who might differ substantially in all those ways and more from the coach. Done well\, coaching requires high-level listening\, self-awareness\, question-asking skills\, patience\, empathy and a willingness to set one’s ego\, agenda and biases aside while in the “development zone” with another person. Effective coaching is also immensely rewarding to the coach. The pride and meaningfulness that come from helping others overcome obstacles\, barriers\, self-imposed limits\, derailing tendencies etc.\, is among the most satisfying experiences a leader can have. It’s timeless and priceless. Ask the leaders you most admire in the later stages of their careers what they are most proud of\, and you’ll likely hear about the people they had the privilege to help grow toward their potential. \n\nEvent Materials (members only)
