Summary:
Professor Bendersky will present a framework for team effectiveness that emphasizes processes and “emergent states,” which are things like shared mental models, learning orientation and collective emotion (or affect) that have been receiving a lot of research attention lately.
Professor Young will lead the group through a short emotion perception task and discuss emotion perception as a key skill for leaders. Simply put, groups can achieve more when a leader is able to detect both positive and negative emotions among team members.
Karren Fink will present a case study on innovative team practice taking place at Edmunds.com.
